FIRE ON THE 21st FLOOR OF GCB COURT. LILIAN SAVES THE DAY.

02 January 2006

01:20pm
Petite Liliian Ong leaves her 20th story apartment and
makes her way to lifts No. 1 & 2 where she notices several
excited young children in front of the Refuse Room next to
the lifts. She saw smoke billowing from underneath
the door of the refuse room. Fearing for their safety, she advised
the children to move away from the Refuse Room . She then
opened the Refuse Room door and found a blazing fire inside.
She closed the door and ran back to her apartment , got a pail
of water and brought it back to the refuse room and
succeeded in dousing the fire.

01:25pm
She went down to the upper ground to look for the
management personnel but found the management office empty.
In desperation she turned to a perfect stranger who happened to
be me and informed me of the fire. I advised her to inform the
Security guards at the guard house. I then went up to take a look.

01:28
On getting out of lift No. 2 on the 21st floor I encountered
2 pre-school children who fled on seeing me. I then proceeded
to the Refuse Room and took some pictures of the fire damage.

What and who caused the fire is anybody's guess.
One thing is for sure , we owe Ms Lilian Ong our debt of gratitude for her presence of mind , prompt action and bravery in single handedly putting out the fire.
THANK YOU LILIAN ONG.
